There are others on this forum that are more well versed on the 966 than I am, but I think your problem is that a seal or o-ring inside the trans has failed, and instead of the hydraulic pump sucking oil, it is sucking air. The quick solution is to over-fill the transmission by maybe 10? gallons, and most will agree I think that overfilling will do no damage, and can be considered a permanent cure.
