Old is probably correct. If the springs in the center are toward the flywheel it will jamb up the space and drive clutch in or out. If you are very sure it is in correctly (and I mean very) it could be that the disk was bent when putting it back together. A bent hub will drag on the FW and PP, causing it to spin the trans at all times. Best of luck, Jim
