Actually Ford used that same axle(may have been slight variations as the years passed) all the way up into the 40's.
It's a very well-done swap though! I have an F-12 with what's apparantly an old Buick axle wide front conversion(one of the "Buick" hubcaps is still on it). It wasn't nearly as well done as this one- the axle had been cut apart and narrowed in the center, and instead of lug bolts, the wheels are just welded directly to the hubs, probably made tire changes a booger! One of these days I'll get pictures.
I find stuff like this just as interesting or even more so to look at than just another run of the mill restoration..
