SMTA has extra casting material and bolt holes in the rearend housing to mount the hitch. SMD doesn't. If you find a SM, SMTA type tank to go under a 52 fuel tank. Starter switch and battery will need relocated, switchover linkage will need some changes, also belt pulley gear box and choke rod will need bending and braket if used. Everything can be done, maybe not simple unless you had a stage 2 SMD parts tractor with all parts that came with live hydraulic. Stage 2 starter and linkage still wouldn't work unless clutch housing was switched.
