There's a good chance it wouldn't be a fib about the engine needing work. Most times when you buy one of those that you can't run and check out, you need to buy it at a cost expecting engine work needed. You can put 3 times the cost of the tractor in the engine sometimes. Depending on loader, tires and other things it could be worth 1500 even with a bad engine. Switching lever is pulled back to start on gas and forward for diesel. Good idea to check oil level in injection pump and for pump oil dilution along with other fluids before starting.
