Yeah, I bought the same alternator in December without the capacitor. Of course I think the alternator was used or a handful of years on a compact foreign pickup, maybe some years had it, maybe some years didn"t.
My understanding is that the capacitor reduces alternator whine on a radio directly wired into the vehicle, but not a device that would eliminate radio interferance that is created by the older style unshielded spark plug wires.
