Well, all of the internal parts, over center mechanism etc are subject to wear but the biggest problem I have had to repair on the clutch type pto is that it wears the keyway out in the operating shaft. I used to replace the shaft of course as they were reasonably priced years ago, but now days, I cut the key way out and install a larger key. Last one I did I used a dremel. Not quick and easy but my labor is cheap nowdays. Thing is, you have to look real close to see that the lever is moving and shaft is not following it to same degree therefore not much movement where you need it to get over center engagement and still able to apply brake.
