Mel On the left side of your hyd. pump , right where the drain hole is , is a cover with 4 bolts on it .First drain the oil out of the hyd. pump . remove the 4 bolts and pull out the strainer . Strainer is a very fine mesh . Mine was stopped up . I replaced strainer . Hyd system works like a champ. I tried washing mine but it was so old it came apart and I had to replace the strainer . Sounds like the hyd. pump is starving for oil . Another thing to check , make sure the rocker arms are well greased , two grease fittings one on each side of tractor . Hyd. pump starved for oil will get the pump hot very quick .Motor will act as if under load . Griff
