15-40 diesel spec. oil is just fine for that gas tractor. They start well with the multi wt, and like the thicker run temp viscosity. Most of us on the forum use either 10-40, 10-30, or 15-40. All of todays oils are so much better than any oil of the past, that if it is a brand name, it will be fine. I always took 8 quarts out to do the change, and had some left over to add later. (with filter) Dig out the old filter square section seal in the groove under the filter canister. It takes a dental pic or sharp ice pic to get at the hardened rubber. When getting a filter, make sure to get that seal (square section Oring) Jim
