randy i used 22 gauge auto body sheet metal. we get it in sheets about 2x3 feet. its mild steel, easy to form with a hammer and dolley. the more it is worked, the harder it gets to you have to do a liitle at a time, otherwise the scrap guy gets the piece. our paint supplier gets the metal for us.
