Pull the dizzy cap off. Look at the shaft the the points rubs against. It will have high points or lobes. Turn the engine by hand until the rub block on the points is at the highest point on one of the lobes. Then adjust the point gap. You don't have to worry about TDC that way and it will be right as long as you do the adjustment right. When finished remember to rotate the engine until the points are closed then take a clean piece of paper (printer paper works well, so will a dollar bill) push the points open with a finger of screw driver, stick in the paper, let the points close on it and pull the paper out. That will get any dirt or oil that may be on there out.
