Probably you see listings for C264 engine kits. C264 engine was also used in SMTA and 400 tractors. Serial # break for what aftermarket refers to for piston sets happened during 400 tractor models. Check the engine block above the oil filter and above the metal cover on the side of block. Should find a raised casting # 356980R1 and also C264. If another casting # or its ground off the engine block was probably changed, 356980R2 counts as a change. Block serial number for a SM engine is often found stamped in just above the steel cover on the right side of block. closer to center of block from front to rear. After all the years and changes that could be made it pays to take engine apart if possible before getting parts.
