I bought another plow and I am going back for one more. This one is 3-16s and I think it is another Little Genius. Looks like the same setup as my other plow. Kind of a junky specimen. The rear moldboard is broke on the leading edge, it is missing one coulter, one spring, and the hitch. I went looking to purchase the 4-16 that he had, but he insisted I needed this one. The 4-16 is in beutiful shape, but rusted up pretty good. This one is pretty rusty as well.
After we pulled the car off the top of it I could see it was missing the hitch and the coulter. The adjusting arms weren't bent up until the old guy pulled it out backwards and it flipped upside down when the plow hit a tree. He never noticed...argh. I was waving and jumping and yelling and he never noticed that either. After it was upside down I just turned away and let him keep driving. I was actually suprised it looks as good as it does. I found a rim that I think will work in his scrap heap.
In the end both plows are mine for $200/ton and he will dig them out and load them for me. I suppose they are worth it. The downside is I have 6 junk tires to deal with. If nothing else I will have spare parts for future/current plows. I may also pull the necessary parts off my 3-14 and have a little bigger plow this fall. The hitch and springs look to be the same.
Are the rims two different sizes? Are the tires two different sizes? Any guesses on what the 3-16 would weigh? I had truck trouble and never got a chance to weigh the plow.
