That is very typical. Most heads can be welded, which at my machine shop is $1000 for just welding. All parts and labor is extra. (They own Nevada Cylinder Head Co.) I have an early rebuilt head as sflem849 mentioned for sale. A bare head from Worthington is $800. Send me an email if you are interested. Good Luck.
