Small (big tractors in the 50s and 60s) were main stay productivity in the west. Big fields and big needs. Today the "big" factor is still true out west. 400hp level tractors are common. The small by today's standards old tractors have little user value and modest trailer queen value out west. And there are plenty of them. Eastern fields are basically still in the size category that 50 to 120hp tractors will be productive. The land owners wanting tractors in that size may not even be production farmers, many have 20 acres, and money from their real job to pay for the tractor they desire.
