General f-12 knowledge

While prepping the f-12 for it's paint job today we removed the powerlift unit from over the top of the trans/rearend housing. On the top of the rearend housing in the top of the cover there were three holes besides the larger fill hole for oil. These holes were filled with pieces of cork. Now whoever did this did a good job, since the cork survived the wire wheeling and pressure washing and all that. But what is really supposed to be there. If they are plugs they must be flat topped because they would interfere with the powerlift unit. Thanks in advance Carl
