As Bob has said in the post below, you may be misreading the last letter in the casting code. 11*28*Q would be November 28, 1947. Every major casting will have those style codes. Not every casting date will match the same date, but when you have found enough of them you will have a rough idea of the assembly period. The castings were cast several months prior to assembly. The B production ran from 1939 to 1947, when it was replaced by the Farmall C. So you should be looking for letter codes for those years. On the right hand side of the front of engine block, above number 1 spark plug there is a flat spot machined into the block. It is several inches long, and about 3/8 inch tall. There you will find a serial number that may match the original serial plate under the seat, that is, if it is the original engine. I think the early B's had single front wheel, while the latter ones had two. I have a 1947 B, my casting codes all end in Q. Best Regards, Charlie
