FYI: I decided to go the easy route first. I emptied the fuel tank(maybe the first time since 1946) and disassembled and cleaned everything from the tank to the carburetor. Seems to be running fine now. I guess fuel tanks should not have dirt, etc. in the bottom, nor should the last gallon or two of gas be brown. I should have thought of that sooner. Thanks again for the suggestions.
