My original sediment bowl filter on my '49 H was trashed, So I went to Tractor Supply to buy a replacement. All they had in stock was a sediment bowl filter for a "C". The body of the filter looked the same...same sized ports, but the glass bowl was shorter than the one on my H. Anyway, a bought it and installed it on my H. When I opened the pet cock, the bowl filled as it should, then fuel strted running down the outside of the bowl. Not gushing, just a slow drip. I took the bowl off, and I saw that the bronze screen was between the rubber gasket and the boddy of the filter. The only way I could get the filter to stop leaking was to remove the bronze screen altogether. After about five tries, I still can not stop te filter from leaking when I put the screen in above the gasket. What am I doing wrong here???
