Good tractor for the most part. They are "hard to start" because they require a minute or two of glow plugs to start even on the hottest day. If one or two of the glow plugs aren't working they will smoke you out until it warms up - winter starting is indeed hard and a block heater is a must - but being in Canada you are probably used to that.
Biggest draw back is that they are now 50 years old and have already had a life of work behind them. Finding a good one could be a chore.
