John: Do you have any experience with a 300 Utility starting a fire? I'm considering using my tractor for putting up hay beginning next year, and fire is definitely a concern. Here's my situation: 300 Utility with a stock manifold, a short (3"-4") custom stainless elbow going down and rearward into a flexible stainless downpipe, and finally into the muffler below the driver's foot platform (left side). I've sometimes wondered about safety with the exhaust fairly close to the ground and also quite close to the carburetor, but the parts that are within reach of the weeds don't seem to get all that hot. It seems like an exhaust system worth keeping an eye on and keeping your hands away from, but I'm curious as to whether it's caused any confirmed fires during "normal" use in haying operations. Can anyone out there enlighten me? Thanks - - Mark W.
