I overhauled the one on my A this spring. It made a big difference. Because I was taking the engine off, I took the bolster right off the tractor and overhauled it before I even started on the engine. There are two shafts, each has one bushing, one bearing, and one seal. Play can also be from the pitman arm connection. In my case each bushing and bearing had a little play that added up to alot. To do the job on the tractor, make a splitting stand for safety. Disconnect the tie rods, drive the pin that holds the front axel out, and drop the axel. Take the big pipe plug out of the front of the bolster, after you take the steering wheel off, the (steering)worm shaft will wind right out the front. There will be a bearing on the shaft and a bushing and seal in the bolster. Then look under the bolster there are bolts there to come out. Same thing with the sector shaft, bearing bushing, and seal. Might as well put in a new gasket, too. I'd bet your gears are good enough, and if your pitman are is tight, its the bushings and bearings. My local Case IH shop had all the parts on hand. Charlie
