Scott Helped my Dad change clutch in his 31 way back about 50+ years ago. Working from memory here, but will take a SWAG at it. What was it doing that required changing? Was it slipping, dragging, noisy? My first guess is that the disk is in hind-end around bass ackwards. The short nose goes toward the flywheel. If accidently installed with the long nose toward flywheel it will set the disk too far against the pressure plate, holding it tight in the released position & cause it to drag/grind when trying to shift into gear. Pressure plate already as far as it can go. Another possibility is that installer forgot to remove the 3 bolts that hold the pressure plate in the released position for shipping/installing. This would have the plate already at its limit, can't move it no matter how hard you stomp on the pedal. Disk wold float free, not cause grinding, would go into gear easily, but wouldn't move under power. Only solution is to take it out & start over, not all that difficult to do. In case the disk happened to be in backwards, DESTROY it with a torch or BFH. It is most likely bent & will have to come apart a third time to put in a good one. I have been wrong before, but this is my best guess without doing a hands on inspection. WJ
