Yeah I'm kinda familiar with the method of adjusting them, but have never done it. I tried to find instructions and pictures online but no such luck.
My thinking is for a 100 mile ride home, I might be able to just leave it behind the fenders on the trailer. It wont ride very well back there but it would work and then I could do the narrowing at my shop with all the tools and concrete floor (and a torch if the bolts were too stubborn)
My trailer is 22' long with about 6' behind the fenders, so theoretically I could pull it up between the fenders til the rear tires hit and chain it down, but its gonna bounce like crazy without any weight on the back of the truck.

Today's Featured Article - Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
