Paint is just one of those things- everybody has a different way of doing things. A friend of mine cleaned his tractor well, and then brushed Case IH 2150 with hardener onto his 400. He then Had the sheet metal sprayed with the same paint. No clearcoat. Tractor looks great 2 years later. He keeps it waxed and fairly clean. The castings still look good, too. It's no parade queen, he uses it to run augers, pull wagons, and for a little plowing. It's a tractor I'd be proud to sit on. I've painted implements with CIH 2150 without hardener and been Impressed with the results. I like how it looks, and lasts. Is It on the same quality as automotive paint? Probably not. But I've seen and had good results with it. When I get a tractor ready to paint, I'm using my friend's method. You do what you like and what your budget allows.
