OK...now, how many volts is your battery showing with the switch off, after sitting overnight?
Next, remove one of your battery cables, and with the switch and any accessories such as lights turned off, conect your multimeter--turned t "amps"--between the battery cable and the terminal you just removed. to check for ca current draw, which would indicate a short that would pull your battery down. No current flow at this point is what you want.
A fully-charged 6V battery should be showing 6.3 volts at a state of rest. If you're not showing 6.3 volts or more, you're not getting what you need to operate a good-running starter.
Check your battery cables for resistance. Sometimes battery cables will get corrosion down underneath the insulation...and corrosion adds resistance, and resistance causes a voltage drop.
I knpw this is just basic electricity, but sometimes you have to refer back to the basics on these old tractors...because they were built about as basic as it gets.
