I gots to know. Are you going to spend the coin to have them galvanized? Galvanizing won't shine as it's the oxide layer that's protecting the steel. Are you going for originality or looks?
I have used aluminum paint and humidity eventually caused rust bleed through after 5 years. Touch ups are inevitably needed to tidy it up.
I've also used single stage automotive metallic silver urethane and it looked great. Tough as nails so it held up well too. In my mind, it's the more durable way to go.
