I do think he has scrapped quite a few "runners". He needs cash flow and does fast liquidations rather than wait for a tractor buyer.
Marty did refund the auction price but only half the original shipping. He was obligated by eBay to refund all the shipping, If he wanted the cylinder back, he should have paid the return shipping.
That's my photo. His picture was shot with the cylinder rotated 90 degrees axially. The bend was not apparent in his ad. It's a 50/50 chance that he did that on purpose. Knowing Marty, I'd say he knew it was bent but sold it anyway. He is so brain dead he doesn't know enough to retract the rod. Probably thinks it needs to be mounted in order to retract. His site will probably be a Superfund site one day so I don't think oil spillage was a concern. Of course, it could have been so bound up, it wouldn't retract. In that case, he should have tossed it into the dumpster.
Fortunately, I had an extra rod. I bought a new kit for $25. My final cost (less labor) for the cylinder is about $40. Slightly less than the original auction price plus shipping.
