Just cause the bowl fills with gas don't mean that the flow is fast enough to keep up.
I don't think yer going to find a plugged passage. Sounds like it's in the tank or at least before the needle and seat. Bowl is filling with gas, gas is run out of the bowl and you don't have enough fuel flow to keep up. Thats why it starts and run again in 5 min or so for another brief time. So check the flow at the carb. With a clean container disconnect the fuel line or open the bleeder on the bowl and catch that liquid gold in the clean can. Should be a steady stream of gas coming out for a couple of minutes.
Most of the time if it's the coil or condenser it will run a little longer than 5 min and require a 15 min or so cool down before running again.
