I think you'd really have to try pretty hard to get the engine block over 250 degrees or so.
And any properly applied paint should be fine for that.
Although it is certainly getting close to the upper end of what the paint can take, so the guy telling you to use high temp paint isn't necessarily wrong.
It's the safe answer for somebody who wants to avoid disatisfied customers looking for free re-work.
But, as I think you'll hear from many others here, even though you're close to the hight end of what the paint can take, it'll be just fine.
The exhaust manifold is obviously a different animal.
