Thank you Janicholson for replying to my earlier post with a question. I got it back together today and took it for a test drive and it works fine. The oil passages were at least partially blocked with sludge and the old bearings in the transmission were rather loose. I went ahead and put in all of the shafts, gears and bearings from the Super H in the transmission compartment and left the differential in place. I did not feel very competent to mesh the pinion to the differential but I had read some about it on the forum so I went ahead and tried. I had been afraid it would howl but it doesn't. My original problem was in fact that the pilot bearing had not just seized but been chewed up. I found several rollers and halves of rollers in the bottom of the trans housing. I decided to use the SH upper shaft so I could put in the larger SH pilot bearing. It looks to me like the shafts are the same except that the shoulder where the pilot bearing sits is machined back another 3/16" or so on the Super to make room for the wider bearing. I also was surprised to see how chewed up the taper bolts and the clutch disk splines in the input shaft assembly were, so I put those in from the SH too since they were in much better condition. I am relieved that I don't have to open it up again, at least not right now. Zach
