DWoody, I just rebuilt my A carb with an aftermarket kit. I was unable to use the needle and seat that came with the kit . I was lucky enough to notice before I installed it, that the needle was a little longer than the old one and when I compared the seats, the new one was taller also. This might have caused the exact opposite condition that you are experiencing but the point is, carefully inspect the new parts to be sure they are exactly the same. Just because it will screw into the hole doesn't mean it's the right part. Hope this helps, Dave
