Before you start stripping the pump, make sure you have power going to it. Use a test light. If so, take the wire off the pump and touch it to the post a couple times, with the key on. You can hear it clicking if it's working. If you hear it clicking, you have two ways to go. 1). There is nothing wrong with the pump and you're not getting fuel to it, or 2). The metering valve and/or linkage is binding. Remove the top cover carefully and set it someplace clean. Reach down in there and gently move the linkage back and forth, it should move freely. If it's stiff, there's possibly a speck of rust on the metering valve. Carefully work it back and forth to loosen it. If it doesn't get any better, it's scored and you're out of business. Remove the pump. If it moved freely, put the cover back on. Caution: If the lever is shaped like a hook, do not hook it on anything! Just lower the cover straight down on the pump, a little bit toward the timing gear end of the pump. With the cover lightly contacting the pump, carefully slide it rearward until the screws can be installed. Now bleed it and try again. (I've had them where the linkage was jammed and simply re-positioning the cover fixes it). If after a long period of time you still have no fuel at the injectors, you have either a major blockage between the pump inlet line and supply pump, or the pump shaft sheared off in the hydraulic head.
