farmall A sideshaft Pto

I am restoring a "Shope mule", it is a model "A21". I also have a Farmall A that is being used for parts. The problem is that the "A" has a side shaft pto that I want to put on the Mule and I have noticed quite a few differences. The rear pto shaft on the Mule is the large one(?) and the one on the A is the small one(1 1/8). The shaft inside the trans on the Mule is the same length as the A but the sleeve over the shaft on the Mule is tapered and has external teeth that mate with the transmission, the A has two teeth on the end of the sleeve that mate to the trans. Do I have to change the end on the output shaft of the trans? I know the difference is probably "A" to "Super A"
