You don't mention what tractor you have. The plug manufacturers application listing will tell what plug you need. The Autolite 386 is a resistive plug. For most of the old Farmalls, Autolite list the 3116 plug. I too stay away from Champion plugs. I have found that the Autolite 3116 works better in my Farmall H.
