The studs stick out about 2 1/4" from the tank. The nut apears to be 7/16 fine thread, but all the 7/16 bolts I have I guess must be coarse thread, and the nut doesn't thread on. I THINK you are right, 3", 7/16 fine thread. Note that the nutst are castellated, for a cotter pin, so the nut will not work off the stud.
