I am sure that he has a leaking seal and does not want to replace it. I have had the same problems in my bushog gear box and the steering gear of my Cub. I have always heard the farmers here use corn head grease but I use synthetic grease. I have used it in my bushog now for 15 years with no problem. It also has the benefit of not being affected by cold weather as much as regular grease.
