This tractor is only going to be used for a parade once a year and for occasional riding on the back roads on the weekend. I will not be using hydraulics for anything, so I would like to either eliminate the pump, or cap the lines and get rid of the hydraulic hoses. What are my options? Thanks.
I've never seen a hydraulic pump "piggybacked" onto a Delco distributor like yours is, but all of the Delcos I have seen have a cover where that pump is located, so it should be as simple as removing the pump and then installing the cover instead. Are there any markings or logos on that pump? Is it a true live hydraulic pump or is it intended to provide power steering only?
You DO NOT want to just disconnect the hoses because then the pump would be running dry which could cause it to lock up and stop you dead in your tracks.
