soybeanjoe,Serial 12516 may be techinquelly correct for the start of farmall built tractors in 1953 but kind of misleading for the biggest percent of SM tractors. Notice I mentioned non diesel tractors in my other post, notice also on lblocks list that diesel tractor production was slowed or stopped before the end of the 1952 year. Records show SMDV 12516 carried over and the lowest # SM built up to march 53. If you want to go by fiscal year lblocks tractor could be called a 53, I don't get into that arguement so I just said when it was built nov. of 52. Most serial lists including the one you posted go by calender year. If the SM you have is a regular gas one and built in march at the farmall plant it should have a serial # of 28111 or higher. First regular SM tractor built in jan. 53 was serial 21074
