The interface between the engine and rear section, at the bell housing, is EXACTLY the same between the two tractors.
You can mate a 400 engine to a 450 rear, or vice versa.
If you look carefully, you'll notice the M, Super M, Super MTA, 400, and 450 are all very closely related. You can bolt the front half of any one of these to the rear half of any other, in fact. All you might need to do is change the pressure plate on the flywheel if you're going to put an M front on a TA-equipped rear.
