Hello,
I"m trying to time the governor on my farmall cub. It was apart and trying to put it back together. I have a shop manual but it doesn"t describe this too much in detail for me. Here"s what I"ve done so far:
1. Have #1 piston on TDC with indicator pointing to notch in crankshaft pulley. 2. Meshed governor gear with camshaft gear lining up 2 punch marks on camshaft gear with single punchmark on governor gear. 3. Looked at slot coupling and it is running from 10 o"clock to 4 o"clock position. I thought this was supposed to be 2 - 8 o"clock? 4. I"m using distributor instead of magneto, so I went ahead and left it and moved the rotor on distributor to point to 1 o"clock position which is also my #1 piston.
I haven"t tried to crank yet as I have some other pieces to put on and wanted to make sure I had this right first.
Do I need to do something different or is this the correct approach? Sorry so wordy but this is my first time to work on a farmall or let alone a 4 cylinder motor of any type.

Experimentation, from the most complex assembly to the most simple and mundane component, is as an integral a part of any farm tractor's development
