I have a 1947 farmall A that I used to run a five foot pull-type cutter behind. My A would pull the cutter alright as long as the grass was not over three foot tall. If the grass was taller I would have to cut two or three feet at a time in first gear instead of five. A four foot cutter should be no problem. Be sure and set your drawbar so that the front of the cutter is even or lower than the back. This way the grass is only cut once by the blades and there is less stress on the tractor. Also the cutter will sling sticks and rocks from under the frontend on pull-type cutters so be careful.
