I won't swear to it but I if I recall the tank prep A was muratic acid.
If you google it they say you can use a 10% solution of muriatic acid in place of the tank prep A. The stuff you get at the hardware is 20% check the label a dilute with water as needed. Put the whole tank in a plastic bucket, remove any petcocks or non steel items as they will dissolve.
