Dear Jim: I remember splintering a pitman arm while running the engine full tilt in easy mowing. This was several years ago when the tractor last ran AND the pitman arm was a new wooden one I had recently purchased. This is why I would like to find a clock faced tack that will run on 6v., There are plenty out there that have electronic numbers on a rectangular flat face. Maybe I am being overly cautious // but as the poet said "TIME & TIDE WATE FOR NO MAN" so I don't want to crack off another pitman arm ?? don't know if I can so easily find a new manufactured one for an IHC 21C bolt on mower for my BN. I have manufactured one before out of ash, long tedious task. It is my though that knowing the engine RPM and measuring the PTO shaft rpm and recording both can alleviate this problem from happening again. Wm.
