The REd: I was told that one P51 Mustang owner had installed an electric oil pump so he could get oil pressure BEFOR rotation during startup.. When the last known set of factory pistons were used several years ago, one must do whatever it takes to preserve that precious several hundred thousand dollar,certified airworthy, engine. Your comment about hand cranking to get oil pressure is right on. Easier to do with plugs out too.. harvey
