Mine has a single wire alternator on it... guess it charges okay, 'cause it has started for a few years, but the meter doesn't work. Did have a little trouble starting last spring, but it was the starter that was bad. Even when it worked before it would not always engage the starter and just grind the gear on the starter ring. Guy that re-built the starter said it's spinning too fast before engaging, installed a 12v winding in it and now it starts so quick it almost scares me.
