well, set the clock early and got up.. went outside.. pressure washed the machine before I got started.
changed crankcase oil and filter, mounted a oil pressure gauge permanently instead of my test gauge on that 8" greasegun line whip, did a lil work on the alternator bracket to make it less crude.. got new belts on, fan, shroud, that lil shroud/rad stabilizer, and then finally the rad.
I'm most unimpressed with the rad mounting technique they make you do to get those 2 short hoses hooked up, along with the short mount carriage bolts.. it's a chinese fire drill to get it all lined up.
anywho.. that's done.. got the louvers back on and fit the front tin just as a test.. it's coming back off but i wanted to make siure i had everything lined up. electrics are not done.. saving them for last.. needs an ammeter and switch, probably new lamps.. etc.
serviced the air cleaner..
finally made sense out of the lubrication chart.. got the rear oil drained.. oil.. did i say oil.. it looke dmore like 000 grease.. or 300w marine oil.. was about like sweet whipping cream or thin sour cream only darker... anyhow.. 85-140 went back in.. found the level check plug..
glad to say the fan belt tensioner worked great after last weeks tapping and penetrant oil bath.
at this point, I have a few mechanical details still to accomplish, replacing a few broke zerks, trading out cotter pins that I havn't got to yet.. etc.. etc..
past that.. maybee start priming next week.
still need to sand down the hood and tank though.
i've got her 'dry' now with no water in her.. once she's ready to be moced I'll fill her with water for a test to check for leaks, then if that passes, coolant will be added to the thermosyphon system.. etc.
strange part is.. my coffee can on nuts, bolts, washers, pins and brackets is empty... no spares.. now how'd that happen??
