Might be TOO much unfo.but the ONLY difference on a 3 wire 10 SI Delco and a 1 wire 10 SI Delco alternator is the voltage regulator installed in it. Like have said before,the 1 wire "self exicting" voltage regulators for the 1 wire alternators come in different "turn on" capacitys. You will be better to have the one that has a LOWER turn on capability.It works better for lower RPM engines like we are dealing with on these tractors.
If you have the "higher"turn on voltage regulator,you will most likely have to "goose" the throttle to high to get it to take off charging.
