OK Larry, lets take a hypothetical situation. Let's assume that my friend with the bad battery had an identical battery in his shed and it had the same volt values under the same test load conditions. If we connect it to the other battery in series, I think we would both agree that the air compressor would start. If we connect it parallel, what would happen? We now have double the available amperage but the same voltage. I would guess the air compressor might start because the voltage in the weak batteries wouldn't suffer as much of a voltage or pressure drop. The required consumption of watts by the starter would be satisfied. So, we can artifically double the amps or volts and get results. A partially discharged battery is restored to fully charged by raising its voltage. When the volts are not there and the amps are trying to make up the difference, where is the deficiency? It seems like volts. It also seems like amp values are still there or have increased to make up the voltage shortfall.

Memories of an IH Super A When I was ? up to 10, I worked on my Papaw's farm in Greeneville, TN every summer. As I grew older (7), it was the thrill of my day to ride or drive on the tractor. My Papaw had a 1954 IH Super A that he bought to replace a Cub. My Papaw raised "baccer" (tobacco) and corn with the Super A, but the fondest memory was of the sawmill. He owned a small sawmill for sawing "baccer" sticks. The Super A was the powerplant. When I was old enough (7 or 8), I would get up early and be dressed to
