as to what is different on the heads i can not say for sure as i do know that there are several different heads for the 400 series engines and as to the pistons it is the compression distance . And as i have never been into a 966 or 986 engine i am not sure if it has and extra piston cooling jet in them or not . as to the cam there are two different cams used one for early side breather engines and one for the B series or top breathers.
